3.3. Collective action and analysis of the potential of collective intelligence

In order to study the practices and uses inherent to a collective intelligence, the context of emergence cannot be ignored, and in particular, the methods hitherto used in the organization to encourage or, at the very least, support collective action. Thinking about collective intelligence runs parallel to current technical discourse, which suggests replacing the human with algorithms (classification, neural network, Gauss curve, etc.). For his part, Lévy states that “the best thing that can be done with new technologies is not artificial intelligence (AI), but, on the contrary, collective intelligence: that computers do not imitate humans, but help them think and evolve their ideas collectively” (Lévy 1997, p. 36).
